The company Rabenauer-Sitzmöbel-Industrie Ferdinand Büsser GmbH Chair and Table Factories, better known under the name Büsser furniture was one of the leading manufacturers of seating furniture in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s. There was a sample book with pictures of all chair models and an order form - not a matter of course at that time.
The hairdresser's chair shown here is one of the items in the catalogue. It was available in different versions: with headrest or without, in birch or oak; with a fixed seat cushion or the swivelling one as shown in the photos. When the hairdresser had finished with his customer, the seat was simply turned around - so the next customer sat on a clean and not preheated seat... Somebody had thought of something!
But not only the function was new and revolutionary, the design was also absolutely progressive!
The tapered square legs lead into the armrests with an elegant curve, the materials wood, brass and leather fit together perfectly.
An absolutely timeless and totally comfortable piece of seating furniture!
