Louis XVI chest of drawers

Description:
The body of the chest of drawers, constructed using a stollen frame design, accommodates two large drawers and one narrower upper drawer set off by a surrounding profile.
The front stollen are turned from a single piece of wood along their entire length, matching the legs; they are fluted at the level of the large drawers and fitted with recessed chequered metal panels above the surrounding brass profile. The rear stollen, by contrast, are square in shape. Resting on the stiles is a white Carrara marble top with grey veins, framed by an openwork brass gallery.
The surfaces of the drawers, adorned with simple brass handles and keyholes, as well as the side panels, are edged with fine brass mouldings, which are in turn framed by a surrounding ebonised veneer.

Condition:
In good condition, ready for use.
The original polish has been overlaid with shellac; the marble top has been cleaned and waxed, with slight signs of wear left in place.
One key is included. Two of the original locks have been slightly modified in the past.
