Mahogany
Empire around 1810-1820
Dimensions: H × W × D: 108 x 50 x 38 cm
Description:
Small writing and dressing table, rarely found in this version, in a carefully crafted dark mahogany case.
The furniture, which is mounted on castors and is also beautifully finished on the back and can therefore be flexibly positioned in the room, stands on paw feet at the front and turned round feet at the back.
When closed, it has a classic secretary structure with three drawers at the bottom, the writing surface above and the head section above set off by a moulding. This head section accommodates two drawers that can be pulled out to the sides and is adorned at the front with a finely cast, fire-gilt bronze mascaron with palmette decoration.
The writing compartment is functionally designed with two wide drawers and a leather-covered writing surface. The original leather surface is beautifully preserved with its all-round chased and gilded friezes.
The upper end of the cabinet is formed by a sliding panel made of Belgian granite, which conceals a mirror that can be pulled out and adjusted in angle.
Condition:
Beautiful, restored condition with a shellac hand polish.
