South-West Germany
Cherry
circa 1830
Dimensions: H x W x D: 99 x 58 x 56 cm, seat height: 45 cm
Description:
The sabre-shaped, flared rear legs are connected above the seat by a crossbar and converge over the armrests to form an arch. A central panel connects the crossbar to the arch and serves as a backrest.
The centre panel and arch are intricately inlaid with ebonised veneer ornamentation.
The armrests, crafted from a single piece of solid wood, echo the rounded shape of the turned front legs and taper elegantly as they curve towards the backrest.
Condition:
To preserve the particularly beautiful light colour of the cherry veneer, the patina has been lightly polished with shellac. The well-preserved upholstery has been thoroughly cleaned.
A beautiful, sturdy armchair in ready-to-use condition.
